Drawing inspiration from muse Penelope Cruz and frequently casting actor Gael García Bernal, Almodóvar has gone where others didn’t dare… and to largely positive reviews. Pedro Almodóvar is the Spanish screenwriter that defied the mainstream and garnered attention and admiration for his depictions of homosexuality, transgenderism, and other non-traditional topics. Some of Almodóvar’s movies include: Broken Embraces, Pepi Luci, Bom and Other Girls Like Mom, Labyrinth of Passion, What Have I Done to Deserve This?, High Heels, Kika, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown, and Bad Education.
