Christine C. Quinn has been called the 3rd most powerful woman in New York. But as the Speaker for the New York City Council and a potential mayoral candidate, she could be rising in the ranks. Christine Quinn is also the first openly gay Speaker in the Council’s history, and she has used her position to advocate for LGBTQ rights in New York City.
Recently, Christine Quinn has publicly denounced Chick-fil-A for their anti-gay policies, and she has asked New York University to remove Chick-fil-A from its campus. She has called the Dan Cathy’s remarks “repugnant and un-American,” and she has launched a campaign to prevent the restaurant from establishing any more locations in New York.
